I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience, providing services in Maryland, Florida and New York and telehealth in a host of other states. I completed my graduate studies in the San Francisco Bay Area, receiving my MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology - Berkeley. While in graduate school I also worked at the San Francisco VA Medical Center with chronic low back pain patients. Internship training brought me to Rochester, NY where I completed my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in University Mental Health at the University of Rochester University Counseling Center (UCC). My training prepared me to work with individuals and groups ranging in age from 16 to 65. Common concerns that led students to seek psychotherapy included: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship struggles and losses, sexual assault and trauma, life transitions and chronic medical conditions. After my training I joined the Faculty at Rochester in the Department of Psychiatry as a Staff Psychologist at UCC. During this time I was involved in health psychology research specifically studying women's health issues and chronic pain.
I later moved back to my hometown of Baltimore and joined the staff at the Johns Hopkins Counseling Center as the Coordinator of Eating Disorders Services. There I provided individual and group therapy, led workshops and consultations as well as providing clinical supervision.
I eventually transitioned into private practice to afford more flexibility in raising my two children. In my practice I work with adolescents, college students and adults. My main areas of focus include the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, depression and emotional dysregulation. I also have specific interests in working with individuals with medical conditions and with college students, including neurodivergent students, as they navigate the developmental issues unique to early adulthood.
Effective psychotherapy balances a solid working relationship with evidence-based practices. Establishing this relationship starts with finding a therapist with whom you are comfortable and you feel is the right fit for you. My approach combines a variety of elements from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). I strive to establish a safe and compassionate relationship from which we can explore life’s difficulties while focusing on tangible change and building upon strengths.
